About

The client came to me in need of a eye catching theme and cover pages for their term one student-ran magazine. The editors of the Assumptions magazine and blog and I started a discussion and came with a specification. With a blue main theme as to fit with the societies brand, a theme of technology and the title ‘THE FUTURE IS NOW’. Fonts and Text to be featured where pre-decided.

PROCESS

From this specification I was able to start deriving a concept though sketches, discussing the possible outcomes along the way. The client and I concluded with the concept on a monochromatic blue scene with a cross section of a house in the foreground where futuristic and technological features highlighted in a contrasting red, using a monochromatic pallet to add detail. A brainstorming session was held to derive ideas for rooms and how technology has/will find its way into the home, from this production of the outcome commenced, referring the clients periodically.

Outcome

The final outcome featured small parcel drones which fly between the omnipotent title which stands contrasting in a bright yellow, the cross section of a traditional town house which resembles that of a dolls house featuring a collection of science-fiction and real technologies that may/have found them self within the home. Both magazine covers and graphic elements and computer wallpaper was produced.
